The establishment of the Lodz University of Technology is associated with the history and development of the industrial Lodz and its fast developing textile industry. After a long battle of establishing a university, on May 24th 1945 the decree that officially brought the Lodz University of Technology into being was signed. Apart from new facilities built in the recent years, a few historic 19th century villas and factory buildings were adapted, revitalized and adjusted to its needs. Reinhold Richter’s Villa, here in the photograph, characterised by a true eclecticism of forms since 1985 has been used as the Rector’s main office.
